1. Your role
You are a volunteer peer mentor, not a teacher, counsellor or babysitter. Your role is to help younger students understand STEM concepts and build confidence.
2. I agree that I will
- Follow the Code of Conduct and the Child Safety Policy
- Only communicate with students through the approved platform and meeting process
- Prepare for sessions, arrive on time, and give notice if I need to cancel
- Only mentor in subjects I know well, and say so when I don't know something
- Keep student information confidential and delete any I receive after use
- Report any safety concern, disclosure or breach to help@openstemhelp.com immediately
- Record volunteer hours truthfully
3. I will not
- Share or ask for personal contact details, social-media accounts, photos or home information
- Meet a student in person through the Service or outside of it
- Accept or ask for money, gifts or favours
- Keep secrets with a student or ask them to keep things from their parents
- Record, screenshot or share sessions
- Complete graded assignments or tests for a student
- Discuss romantic, sexual, violent or other inappropriate topics
4. Volunteer hours
Only time spent in approved, completed sessions and agreed preparation is eligible. Our team verifies hours and may adjust or decline inaccurate entries.
5. Review and removal
Our team may review my sessions, feedback and conduct, and may pause or remove my mentor status at any time. I understand that serious breaches may be reported to my guardian and to authorities.
6. Support
If something makes me uncomfortable, or a student tells me something worrying, I can contact help@openstemhelp.com at any time. I won't be penalised for reporting in good faith.
